Jennifer hung up the phone with Julian who was returning to town to help the family. This was way sooner than either of them thought but with Noah's confession things had changed. Her heart was so heavy. Her son something she birthed murdered her Adam. Her mother was numb and refused to leave her home. Anthony was hiring as many lawyers to help the situation. Noah was refusing to speak to any of them or take the lawyers. She didn't know what to do for her family. Then there was Mackenzie who she was so disappointed in. Caspian and she were having a baby.
She never expected to be that mom.
The mom whom daughter is pregnant at seventeen. She closed her eyes and lowered her head. There was no way she would be returning to that school after this. Cambridge Academy would be her new school. She was so hurt and angry with Mackenzie. There conversation have all ending in confusion. Anthony is being supportive but she's pregnant. How can he just be okay with that?
Her biggest problem was the mitochondrial DNA. Camryn was outside with the horses. How could she tell that hateful little girl that they shared the same mother. Mitochondrial DNA is that they don't have the same father but the same mother. She was shocked that her mother had another child. She had cheated on their father. Julian didn't know yet and she didn't want to be the one to tell him. She was walking down the stairs to speak with Camryn, when keys entered the door.
“Hello momma.” Rowan said swinging all her bags around in her hand.
“Rowan!” She ran to her daughter and hugged her tightly. “Rowan where in the hell have you been?”
“Well Paris, London, Rome, and Spain in a week span. It was amazing! Just vacation I needed and Declan told me he's going to invest in Ribbon. Isn't that perfect?”
“Wait a minute you've been shopping and spending time with some random man? Our family needs you and you were shopping!”
“What are you yelling about mom? I needed time after Brian and everything.” She placed her bags down.
“Well let's talk Rowan! Noah's has been on drugs, Andrea was raped in Las Vegas, Noah has confessed to murdering your grandfather, Mackenzie is pregnant, and I don't what the hell Camryn means.”
Rowan sat silently digesting every single word her mother said. She looked at her mother who was crying and she felt horrible. Noah killed there grandfather? That was insane. How could this be happening to them? Andrea was raped? That was another blow she wasn't expecting. Rowan felt like she had abandoned her family in there moment of need. She got up and wrapped her arms around her mother.
“I'm so sorry I wasn't here. I got so caught up in my pain I didn't care about anyone. That was so selfish.” She felt like crying as she laid her head on her mother shoulders.
Jennifer heart broke when she heard her daughter. She was the mother and here she was leaning on the daughter. It was wrong to vanish with no contact but not to live her life. “I'm sorry I snapped at you. With this Camryn stuff and everything else. I just wonder why us? We were perfect a year ago. You know?”
“What about Camryn?” She said as the tears finally fell down her face. She felt so selfish for running away now.
“The night you left she came over here claiming me to be her mother. That was impossible but she demanded a DNA test. Well to make a long story short Camryn and I have the same mother.”
“What? What do you mean that trailer park trash has the same mother as you? That means she's grandma's daughter. That doesn't make sense!” Rowan sat in silence for a few minutes trying not to consider the thought of Camryn truly being family. Aunt Camryn that sounded like a joke. She'd never respect or honor that damn woman.
Camryn walked inside the house. She eyed Rowan giving her a bitchy smirk. Then she ran her hand through her hair to show off her huge sparkling diamond ring. “Those horses are amazing. Hello Rowan.”
“Camryn you look so... I have nothing nice to say, so I'll say nothing.” Rowan said walking around the table. Grabbing her bags and purse.
“Mom listen I have to go call me when our guest is gone. I'm home now and I won't leave. This is yours I bought everyone gifts.” She hugged her mother and felt Jennifer latching onto her.
“I love you mommy.”
“I love you too Rowan. I'm so sorry I screamed.”
Camryn folded her arms watching jealously. “Bye Rowan.” Camryn waved feeling unsatisfied in there encounter. She wanted to gloat and show she won. Whatever prize they were fighting for she won it.
Rowan walked away with a icy glance at Camryn and left the house.
“She'll never forgive me right?” Camryn said tapping her french manicured fingers. Her diamond ring sparkled on her little finger.
“It'll take years. Family or not Rowan won't forgive you easily. I told you I wasn't your mother.” She placed the DNA results in front of Camryn. “But there's more.”
“Well who said anything about forgiveness? I don't apologize plus did want marry a man who was a known ladies man. If it wasn't me it would have been another gold digger go figure.”
Jennifer was becoming more and more fond of Camryn. The girl definitely had issues with family. She wanted to help her sister. Confronting her mother is on her things to do. “Camryn we share the same mitochondrial DNA. That means we share the same mother. Our mother had to cover this up. The question is why? I know Genievea's involved. Were going to figure this out together. I need you to make me a promise not to confront my mother. I'll find this out. But she's fragile right now and she can't be pushed into this.”
Camryn gritted her teeth. She was shocked that Jennifer wasn't her mother. Phoebe Duncan was her mother. She
“Fine but make it fast.”
“That ring where did it come from Camryn?”
“My fiance Maxwell Mulroney. Were engaged to be married.”
“Would this have anything to do with the charges against you for kidnapping Cordelia.”
“Nothing at all.” Camryn got up grabbing her purse and standing up. “I'm going to be a Mulroney and the money and prestige is going to make me iconic.”
Dias sat in his office and was reading the newspaper. When he saw one of his goons walking in he frowned. He sipped his Colombian coffee as he tapped his foot impatiently, “What do you want?”
“Sir Benny Johnston is here to meet with you.”
“What?” Dias said looking at the goon. He shook his head looking at the goon. “Tell him to come in.” It took a few minutes before he entered the room.
Benny walked into the room with as he turned to his goons holding them back. “My daughter was raped in your jurisdiction. Why I'm here is because I don't think you have control over your jurisdiction. I'm moving back to Aztec Springs and I'm going to warn you. I'm not moving back for fun.”
“Well if you're disclosing this to me then I understand what it means. If you want war then that's what it is.” Dias said looking at him. “I'm not afraid of you Benny at all. So if it's war you want then it's war you'll get.”
Cordelia got off of the treadmill and had a big frown on her face. Natalie was rationalizing there father actions. Now she was fabricating this made up divorce between there parents. Cracking her knuckles and felt so stressed out. Her best-friend wasn't even home. Not to mention she truly didn't believe Noah killed his grandfather. The paper had given her off the days off.
Walking to the water fountain she sipped the some water. Laying the mat on the ground she laid down
and started to doing crunches. She heard the gym door opening. The stilettos were Italian she could tell. The pants were obviously tailored to her body and the jacket and top were high fashion. Looking at the golden blond before her she frowned.
“Aunt Lace what are you doing here?”
“Kicking out the trash. Raul please go and pack both Cordelia and Genievea closets. Get as many servants as it takes. I want them both out the Compound by tonight. Also call Natalie inform her of my arrival and tell her my brother is to be released as soon as possible.” She seethed as she walked closer to her niece. Extending her arm to help up Cordelia.
Cordelia face held instant disgus.
“My father built this house from scratch. It's not your home so what the hell makes you think you have a right to evict me or my mother.” She snapped looking at aunt.
“Little girl you placed my brother in jail. Not to mention the night he's announcing were going global you dismantle his dynasty. You are a ungrateful little wench. I pretty sure my brother would want you to have this.” Lace backhanded Cordelia in the mouth.
Cordelia turned away from the impact of the slap. She was just about to attack when she saw her mother expression.
Genievea walked into the gym and slowly approached Lace and Cordelia. “Cordelia go upstairs and stop them from touching your belongings. My bags are leaving already.”
“Finally my brother takes out the British trash!” Lace leaned against the walk watching Cordelia walk away angrily.
“Listen to me you washed up has been. If you ever raise a hand to any of my children I'll break it off understood Lace. If you think that you're going to boss my child out of her house. It's not going to happen. I don't know why you're here.” She hissed as she walked into Lace personal space. She poked her finger in her face. “But if you ever threaten my family again I'll ruin you. Tell your brother his blushing younger bride will be the end of them. No you won't to do that I'll do it myself.” Genievea turned around looking at Lace.
“Oh Lace your work is exquisite you must get me to your surgeon.”
Lace frowned as she watched Genievea walk away. Soon none of them would have anything. Declan and she were going to dismantle everything they thought they had. Her brother had been riding high for a long time. It was time to cut him off by his knees.
Rowan approached Brian who was sitting at the bar. She slowed down her pace. Her eyes blurred with tears as she collected enough courage to keep walking.
“Hey we need to talk.” She said sitting down by him.
“Rowan I've been calling and calling.”
Before he could say anymore she cut him off.
“And I didn't answer Brian.”
She paused running her hands through her hair.
“I couldn't deal with the betrayal. I still can't.”
Biting her bottom lip she felt her heart beating speeding up, “I'm going to get some movers to get all my stuff out of the penthouse. I can't tell you how much you've hurt me.”
“I never meant for that to happen. I should of stopped it. I shouldn't of proposed knowing I wasn't ready. I am now though. Just take some time and see it.”
“There isn't anymore time for us.” Rowan said as tears boiled in her eyes.
Her words were cutting him so deeply. “You can't mean that. We mean too much to each other. What about Paris Rowan? What about our dreams? I never meant to do you wrong.”
“It's over! Stop trying to make it happen. Don't you get it? I'd go hungry for you. I'd die for you and to find out it's not the same is crushing. It's crushing me to be here. So I'm telling you stop calling, texting, and any other idiotic plot to get me back. It'll never happen. I'll never love you again Brian because you'll never truly feel the love I do. If you possibly could love me the same way it's too late.”
She stood up and leaned over hugging him.
“I feel sorry for you because of your family expectations you'll know what true love is. The Mulroney's are a curse hanging over you and I thought it was over. But I see way clearer now, you can't away from what you are.”
Rowan leaned over and kissed Brian cheek.
“Have a good life.”
Brian watched her walking away and knew he'd just lost the woman he's in love with.
Thirty men all in crimson colored robes with hoods all started to take there seats. It had been a very long time since they all had came together. Anthony thought looking over at a very nervous Desmond. The poor kid didn't know what he was getting into. For twenty years he had used these men to help him. The truth was that without The Cobra's he wouldn't gotten away with stealing Anthony Stallworth's identity. The influence of The Cobra's ran deep. It was a scratch my back, I'll scratch yours mentality. Warren Townsend took the stage. He had hated that man from the moment they met. He was jealous that he couldn't change his entire life.
“Today brother's we are here to discuss a fellow member's status with The Cobra's. As many of you know once you apart you can't quit. This member lost his briefcase and got rid of his ring.”
Anthony got antsy in his seat his own tension rising. Could they have found out? Looking over at Desemond he shot him a evil look. If that bastard betrayed him he'd make sure his wife or child were never seen again. Tapping his foot he looked at the stage.
“Johnathan Fletcher who owns a chain of gas stations.”
Warren paused letting the words sink into the many Cobra's mind. Warren wondered how many of them believed themselves to be who he was talking about.
“He has given up on his family. Now we must take a vote.”
Goons brought a very disturbed looking Johnathan to the stage. Warren watched as each and every man brought a slip of paper. Once everyone was done he read out each vote. Overwhelmingly Johnathan was to be killed.
“Please I have a children. I swear to you I'd never tell anyone anything.” Johnathan begged trying to shake feverishly.
“You should of thought of that before you made the choice to leave the family.” Two goons stood him up and unload six bullets into his torso. Then drug out the dead body.
Warren watched with a mixture of glee and disgust. He hated weaklings like Johnathan and Anthony. He viewed Anthony a rogue who could jeopardize the entire operation. “Let this be a example to all you live and die by The Cobra's.”
Anthony stood up and walked out as the ceremony ended. He looked over at Desmond, “No one is ever to know about my briefcase being missing.”
“Understood.” They walked out leaving the meeting in the middle.
Jennifer placed her phone down after texting her daughter. Rowan was also disappointed in Mackenzie. The family would deal with this together. She tried to talk about Brian and forgiveness. The problem was that Rowan wasn't hearing it. Not to mention she was devastated about Noah. Together they came to terms with the entire situation. Walking into the bathroom she start to wash her face. Wiping off the make-up as tears started to form in her eyes. She pushed back the shower curtain turning on the water. She made sure it was excruciatingly hot and stepped inside.
The hot water seemed to soothe her. She relaxed but before she knew it she started to bawl crying. Holding the wall Jennifer stepped out and grabbed her towel wrapping it around herself.
She wondered exactly where her husband was. It was midnight and he was yet to hit home. Just as she was about to slip on her nightgown her cellphone vibrated. She swiftly walked to the phone and saw it was Cole.
“Cole is something the matter with Noah?”
“No I'm calling about the mysterious caller.”
“Do you know anyone named Ruth-Ann Callaghan?”
“No that name means nothing to me.”
“Well I thin we should visit Ruth-Ann home and figure out what she or he knows.”
“Let's go now.”
“I can't it's a lot going on in the station. Listen I can get my best detective to help you.”
“No that's okay I figured Natalie wouldn't want you around me. Since she see's me as a threat to her marriage. Honestly I do feel like a inconvenience to you.”
“How can you open your mouth and say that? Jennifer this might sound horrible but I'm falling out of love with Natalie. I can't stop thinking about you.”
Jennifer held her phone close to her heart. “It's too bad I'm not that type of a woman because I'm so lonely right now. The sad part of it is that I don't care about her. I want be selfish but I can't to a baby who deserves you. You at your fullest.” Jennifer held the phone to her heart then hung up.
Detective Nico Ruiz was running through the park. It was how he unwind after a long days work. Two years ago he transferred from New York. When he arrived in Aztec Springs he built a instant friendship with Cole. At first he severely disagreed with becoming a vice cop again. After Joan was killed he didn't want to do much of anything. She was also a officer, his wife, and the mother of his daughter his four year old daughter Lola. Julia was undercover and she called him completely deranged. He'd never forget that call. She said something about Aztec Springs and Cobra's. It was the reason he transferred to this small town. He found it was a perfect home for his little girl. He would avenge his wife death and figure out what she meant by Cobra's.
He could still remember his captain telling him she was gone. Joan was raped, brutally beaten, and then shot in the head. The autopsy revealed she was tortured for hours. She was branded with a cobra on her back.
Nico ran harder as the images of identifying his wife flew into his head. He ran over a bridge taking in deep breaths. The feeling of being a officer of the law and not knowing who killed the one you love is torture. He leaned over the bridge and looked down.
That's when he saw a leg. At first he was sure he was seeing things but when he stepped onto the bridge looking over. He saw her. She looked like a mermaid.
The water washed over her body. He knew that she was dead. More than likely this poor girl was raped and killed. He started running down to the path to Aztec River. Jumping into the water he slowly approached the woman body. When he noticed her chest moving slightly.
“I need a ambulance! I'm in the woods of the park this is Detective Nico Ruiz.” He said scooping the stunning brunette into his arms. She had a tattoo. A tattoo that made him freeze. It was the Cobra that Joan was marked with.
“Listen don't die! You hear me? Don't die.” He started to run up the path preying that this girl survives. She was the only clue on Joan's death.
She opened her crystal blue eyes. “Where am I? Please don't let them. So much blood. The Cobra's they killed him.”
The woman left consciousness as he heard sirens.
“Stay awake! Stay awake you hear me?” Nico said wondering now more than ever wondered; who are the Cobra's.
Genievea walked in smelling like Chanel #5 which woke up every man in the cells. Cole had let her down here. She only had a few minutes so she'd make this worth it, “Get up Maxwell.”
“Genievea.”
Her rage boiled when she saw him. Emotions were swirling all over her body as she eyed her husband. It was shocking how much she was feeling this divorce. She turned looking at Alex and shook her head. Snickering at the irony of them two being across from each other.
“You've always looked at me as secondary to you. I've always acted like I didn't care. I didn't know how much I truly did until it was snatched away. I hate you for making me remember the reason I fell in love with you. You were unpredictable. I never knew how unpredictable until now. How could you give up on years of our marriage to save you neck? I don't understand you.”
She grabbed the bars feeling angry. Swallowing deeply she pulled out the documents she quickly signed them.
“It'll take two more months but I won't be your wife after that. I hate you for doing to me and the kids. Maxwell this isn't good-bye because I know you'll get out of this. This is a promise, if this divorce goes through I'll make life hell. I'll never forgive you.”
Maxwell wiped tears from his eyes. For the first time he didn't want to fight with her. He wanted to hold her. That was the first time he heard her say she loved him in years. They were two stubborn creatures. He stood up walking to the bars that separated them.
“What happens when all of this is over?”
“We still be apart there's no ending this. Once it's over it's over.”
“Then I'll be marrying Camryn in a few months and you'll be hating me.”
Genievea stepped back and shook her head.
“I almost died because of you. Do you remember my accident. You promised never to hurt me like that again. Yet here you are destroying me. So I'll do the same.”
Genievea looked at Maxwell and said good-bye to the part of her that cared, “Good-bye Maxwell.”
“Don't turn your back on me! You hear me?”
“Shut up old man.' Alex said, with a satisfied smirk. 'I guess you can't have it all.”
Noah Stallworth listened to the conversations surrounding him. He knew he didn't like Alex. He was apart of Cordelia kidnapping.
“Won't you both shut the hell up? Some of us are trying to sleep away the time. I can't do that with you two yapping. So shut the hell up none of us are getting out anytime soon.” Noah said, sitting in his cell shaking from not being able to get the drugs his body craved.
“Welcome home baby,” he said laughing before shaking.
